How to check the material is really stainless steel 304 or 316？

People always thought that stainless steel is non-magnetic,so they check the material is stainless steel or not by magnet. No magnetic is good,magnetic is iron. Acturally,it’s not right.

Sometimes,stainless steel products also have little magnetic,it’s work magnetic,for example,the wire rod is non-magnetic,but after we make the fastener and screw,it’s always have little magnetic when making thread. 1.       Machine: You can use spectrograph to test the machine,it’s very accurate,but the machine is too expansive,not everyone can buy it. Now there is Hand-hold Nir Analyzer,it’s easy to take,but the price is still higher for most people,it’s about 150000RMB in China. So we don’t suggest it.

2.       Potion:It’s the special potion for checking the material is SS304 or SS316. It’s checking the Nickle in material,for example,SS304 has 8%Ni,SS316 has 10%Ni.If the material is right,it will be red after using the potion.Please check pic below. It’s cheap and easy for you.
